If you're a Boomer, or just love the Boomer generation, you want to come to this fantastic and fun day!

You know you're a Boomer if...

 

Simply put, you ARE a Boomer if your were born between 1946 & 1964. 18 years! A full generation of experiences, products, gizmos, toys, music and more. You may not remember all of this if you were born on this end of the generation, but those born earlier should be able to identify with all of it.

Music

You know your're a Boomer if you remember:

  • Records, LP's, Vinyl, 45's and you played them on a phonograph or record player... maybe even a portable record player.

  • Cassettes, 8-tracks and reel to reel.

  • The "original" Beetlemania, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Dion, Carol King, Frankie Avalon, Herman's Hermits, the Mamas and the Pappas.

  • The Rolling Stones and The Beach Boys when they were young.

  • Transistor radios and WABC featured Cousin Brucie and #1 hits.

  • Musically base television series such as The Partridge Family & The Monkeys.

  • The Rat Pack

  • FM? What's that?

  • You stopped listening to band names by the time MTV came along, and don't understand music videos.

  • You played a recorder in grade school and thought you had musical talent.

Automobiles

You know your're a Boomer if you remember:

  • The VW Bus

  • Not wearing a seatbelt, not using a car seat and hearing the phrase, "Don't make me stop this car!," while on family vacations in the station wagon.

  • How to drive a stick shift, remember your bright lights foot button, and manual windows.

  • Esso's "Put a Tiger in your tank, Sinclair", "You can trust your car to the man who wears the Texaco star."

  • Free tire air & the gas shortage.

Gadgets

You know your're a Boomer if you remember:

  • The Tupperware "burp"

  • Avon calling with the suitcase of trial size lipsticks. 

  • SX70 Instamatic cameras

  • Tape recorders

Entertainment

You know your're a Boomer if you remember:

  • Drive-in movies and the intermission show.

  • Roller skating rinks

  • Goldie Hawn, John Travolta, James Bond, Cher,      Ed Sullivan, Woody Allen

  • Bowling, roller skating or Sock Hops

Defining Moments

You know your're a Boomer if you remember:

  • Martin Luther King and President Kennedy's assasinations

  • Moon landing and man's first steps on the moon.

  • The Sears catalog and the Sears Christmas catalog.

  • Reverand Jim Jones

  • Watergate, Vietnam

  • Cigarettes and alcohol advertisements and sponsorships on television and in print.

  • Joe Namath in pantyhose.

Family & Finances

You know your're a Boomer if:

  • You're taking care of your aging partents

  • You're taking care of your adult children

  • You  tell your children you hope your grandchildren are just like them.

  • You remember when tatoos and Harleys were scary.

  • You remember that in your day, you paid less than half for what you purchase now.

  • You realize your lawyer, your doctor and your accountant are all children.

  • You remember water fountains and water from the tap, but never bottled.

  • Transcontinental commercial flights.

Communications

You know your're a Boomer if you remember:

  • Rotary dial phone

  • Pay phones

  • Extension lines

  • Very long cords

  • Party Lines and 5 and 7 digit phone numbers

  • The Princess phone

  • The operator and Ma Bell

  • Computers took up an entire wing of a federal building

  • Typewriters, electric typewriters

Television

You know your're a Boomer if you remember:

  • ​The television set was a piece of furniture. A television repairman came to the house to fix your television set, which usually included replacing a tube.

  • Your family owning a black and white set, even a portable set with "rabbit ears."

  • There was no such thing as 24 hour networks or cable. The test screen was on, or static/snow, when the networks were off-air.

  • Shows for kids such as the Little Rascals.

  • Saturday morning cartoons with Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam, Porky Pig and Wylie Coyote and the Acme Company.

  • American Bandstand & The Mouseketeers

  • The 3 Stooges, The Bowert Boys, Laurel & Hardy, Abbot & Costello, Burns & Allen.

  • Allen Funk and Candid Camera, Rowan & Martin, The Sonny & Cher Show, Andy Griffith, The Carol Burnett Show, The Bobby Vinton Show, Hee Haw, Rowan & Martin and even Monty Python's Flying Circus.

  • Sitcoms such as the Honeymooners, I Love Lucy, Mr. Ed, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Gilligan's Island, The Courtship of Eddie's Father,    Leave it to Beaver, Maude, All in the Family, MASH That Girl,              The Flying Nun & My Favorite Martian.

  • 3-D Glasses were for the movie theatre only.

  • You had to get up and walk to the television to change the channel to one of 13 possible choices. You also had to turn it on and off manually.

  • If you wanted to watch a movie, you went to the movie theatre.

  • Prime time family shows such as The Lone Ranger, Howdy Doody,    Wild Kingdom, Magical World of Disney, or educational kids shows such as Romper Room, Captain Kangaroo, Kukla & Fran & Ollie.

  • Daytime TV consisted of shows like the Newlyweds

  • Late night talk shows such as Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show, Merv Griffin, Steve Allen,

  • News with Walter Cronkite.

Food

You know your're a Boomer if you remember:

  • Tray service at the local burger joint, fountains in drug stores, club sandwiches and TV Dinners

  • You know the answer to what has 2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun, and could sing it fast.

  • Wax soda bottles, penny candy, fireballs, candy necklaces, Mary Janes & Baby Ruths.

  • Coca-Cola in bottles, Dr. Pepper, fountain sodas, milk shakes & ice cream sodas, 

  • The red M&M's were bad for you.

  • Alka Seltzer "Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is" or " I can't believe I ate the whole thing."

  • Tum, tum, tum, tum, tuuuummms - Tums antacid

  • Blue Bonnet margarine and "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature."

  • Hawaiian Punch

  • When McDonalds stopped posting how many burger they had sold.

  • You paid a quarter (or less for school lunch) or brought your lunch in brown paper bags or tin lunch boxes with glass-lined thermoses.

  • A barter of food in your pantry.

Toys

You know your're a Boomer if you remember:

  • The hula hoop

  • Barbie and Ken, Madame Alexander dolls, Ginnie dolls & Thumbalina locket dolls.

  • Dick Tracy watches & plastic army men

  • Fisher Price, Lincoln Logs, Erector Sets, Red Rider BeeBee Guns

  • Pet Rocks

  • Schwinn Bikes

  • Duncan Yo-Yo's

  • Skate keys and marbles

  • Playing games in school or on the playground such as Red Rover, Kick Ball, Head's Up 7-Up, jumped rope and basically played outside year 'round.

Fashion & Beauty

You know your're a Boomer if you remember:

 

  • Dr. Scholl's sandals, Keds PF Flyers, 

  • You wore Levis or Wranglers.

  • Maybelline & Cover Girl

  • Bee Hive Hair do's and Dippity-Doo

  • You used curlers and may have gone to the store with a scarf over your curlers.

  • Cat Eye glasses

  • Saddle shoes & penny loafers
